Don't miss this exclusive excursion, the only one that lets you visit and walk on Martillo Island, home to one of the three Magellanic penguin colonies and a Gentoo penguin colony. You'll be accompanied by experienced guides, the only ones authorized to lead tours on this island.
Additionally, we will navigate the Beagle Channel to reach Lobos Island and Bird Island. From the boat, you can observe a variety of local wildlife, including cormorants and sea lions with their young. We will also pass by the renowned Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, known as the Lighthouse at the End of the World.
The group size is limited to just 20 people to ensure the protection of the animals and their habitat.
Tour Description
We will kick off our day by gathering at our office located at the Ushuaia tourist pier.
From there, we'll hop on a bus to explore Route No. 3 and Route J, making our way towards Martillo Island as we admire the enchanting Tierra del Fuego forest.
Upon reaching our boating point, we'll embark on a 20-minute journey in a semi-rigid boat to the island. Here, we'll disembark and spend an hour walking among the Magellanic and Gentoo penguins, guided by a specialized expert who will provide insights into the lives of these fascinating creatures along with guidelines and precautions for interacting with them.
After enjoying a free hour with the penguins, we will begin our return journey to the city of Ushuaia.
But that's not the end; we will reconvene at our office in the afternoon to continue exploring Ushuaia. At the dock, we'll check in and set sail on our boat across the stunning Beagle Channel. We will depart from the tourist dock, cruising through Ushuaia Bay until we reach the Beagle Channel via Paso Chico. Here, we'll navigate around Bird Island, where we can admire the birdlife of Tierra del Fuego. Next, we'll head to Isla de los Lobos, where we'll observe one- and two-haired sea lions, with commentary from a professional guide.
As we arrive at Les Eclaireurs Lighthouse, we'll witness the colonies of imperial cormorants and rock cormorants, while enjoying the tale of the SS Monte Cervantes shipwreck, which occurred in 1930. We'll have a few moments for everyone to capture photos of the Lighthouse.
Proceeding with our adventure, we'll head to and disembark on Karelo Island, part of the Bridges Islands, where we'll observe Yámanas shell middens. We'll take a leisurely guided walk, about 20 minutes long and very easy, leading us to a panoramic viewpoint perfect for taking stunning photos.
As our journey concludes, we'll take in the view of the mountain range that encircles the city of Ushuaia and the surrounding natural beauty, and we'll return to the tourist dock at night after a day rich in historical and scenic wonders.
