Ice Trekking On The Martial Glacier

The journey to the Vinciguerra Glacier kicks off early in the morning, as transportation collects participants from their accommodations in Ushuaia. Our adventure begins as we make our way to the Andorra Valley, which serves as our starting point.

At 9:00 am, we embark on a trail that will guide us through diverse landscapes. Our path takes us over peat bogs and rivers formed by melting ice, leading us into the verdant subantarctic forests of lengas and ñires.

As we progress, the terrain becomes more challenging. By midday, we reach the Laguna de los Témpanos, nestled at the base of the Vinciguerra Glacier. The lagoon's crystal-clear waters mirror the ice formations, creating a breathtaking visual spectacle.

After a break to savor our lunch and regain energy, we gear up for the extraordinary experience of walking on the glacier. Donning crampons and helmets provided by our guides, we traverse the icy surface, exploring sinkholes and ice formations. This offers a rare chance to observe the dynamic nature of moving ice up close.

Following this unforgettable adventure, we start our descent, retracing our path while enjoying the final panoramic views of the mountain range and the surrounding valleys.

Ultimately, we wrap up our expedition and return to the central hotels in Ushuaia.
