At 9:00 am, travelers are picked up to embark on their adventure. By 10:00 am, we gather at the starting point of our trek, prepared to explore the native forest en route to Laguna Esmeralda.
Our journey follows National Route 3, passing by Monte Olivia and Monte Cinco Hermanos, which guide our path. By 12:00 pm, we reach the Tierra Mayor valley, where our 5 km trek commences through breathtaking mountain landscapes, shaped by the erosion of ancient glaciers.
We'll begin with a briefing on using crampons (during winter) and walking sticks before setting off through the subantarctic forest, a region once populated by loggers and now inhabited by beavers. Around 1:00 p.m., we arrive at the lagoon, which might be frozen depending on the weather, offering the extraordinary chance to walk on ice—a truly unforgettable experience.
At 1:15 p.m., we will proceed to a mountain dome for warmth and shelter following our trek. A hearty mountain stew and coffee will be ready for us, providing the perfect energy boost for our return journey.
By 2:40 p.m., we start making our way back to the vehicle. Around 4:00 p.m., we prepare to return to Ushuaia, arriving at approximately 4:30 p.m., filled with energy and cherished memories.
